    May 19th, 2005
    Version 0.123011

In this hot fix publish to Live servers we have added some Japanese localization files for our friends on the Japan servers and corrected an issue where some players were crashing to desktop. In addition we have added 6 additional days to /respec starting today (May 18th, 2005). Read on for more details:

    /respec

    • All existing characters that have not used /respec will have 21 days from the date they login (after CU went to Live servers) to utilize their /respec abilities. After 21 days the above pop-up message below will be shown to alert the player of their final /respec.
    • The Respec timer has been extended for all players who logged in directly after the CU went Live to 6 additional days from today. On the 6th day please read your respec pop-up boxes very closely. Any mistakes made will not be corrected by Customer Service.

Below is the warning message that will pop-up in game for your last character respec:

    • WARNING* – Your ability to respec is about to expire.

Your ability to respec your character is about to expire. You may still respec your character during this session, however, once you log out from this session, your ability to respec will be revoked. Please make sure that the way your character is when you leave this session is your final desired configuration.

The following is the standard respec message:

You have been authorized to respec your character; that is, to reassign your skills and player statistics. If you would like, we can begin this process now. We recommend, however, that you play with your existing character long enough to determine what you would like your new skills to be.

Click “Yes” to begin the process now, “Later” to be reminded later, and “Never” to never be reminded again.

You may also begin the respec process at your leisure by using the command “/respec”.

    Publish 17.0
    May 26th, 2005

    Major Features
    Multi-Passenger Vehicles

Multi-passenger vehicles have been added to Star Wars TM Galaxies! There are a total of 7 vehicles that now have ground-based, multi-passenger functionality.
    Existing Vehicles

Previous versions of these vehicles will now have multi-passenger capabilities. For example, if you already own an X34 speeder, your vehicle can now carry another passenger!

    • X31
    • X34
    • Flash Speeder
    • AV-21

    New Vehicles

    • Master Artisans craft these new multi-passenger vehicles (in addition to existing vehicles).
      • AB-1 (new)
      • XP-38 (new)
      • V-35 SoroSuub Carrier (new) also known as “the Lars family speeder” can carry up to six passengers!

    Multi Passenger Commands

    • /offerRide — asks the target player if they would like to accept a ride. This command also appears on the radial menu. The “offer ride” menu will not show up if the target passenger is already mounted onto the vehicle.
    • /acceptRide — Passenger accepts the ride.
    • /declineRide — Passenger declines the ride.

Once a passenger accepts the ride, they are placed inside the vehicle and can ride along. Passengers can click on the vehicle to get the Enter/Exit Vehicle menu, which will drop them out of the vehicle. Drivers will be unable to kick people from the passenger group until they exit the vehicle. When the driver of a vehicle exits the vehicle, everyone else in the passenger group will too.
    New Player Tutorial

Star Wars Galaxies is getting a new quest-based Tutorial and New Player Experience! Now, the new player experience starts at the beginning with character creation. Players will still be able to choose from a selected set of clothing choices for their new character. Players will no longer choose a profession and start the game with all of the novice boxes trained. Starting in the space station, new players will learn the basic skills of moving, shooting, and communicating. Once they have mastered those basic skills they are taken to Mos Eisley where their mentor, Trehla Keelo, will train them in the fundamental systems of the Star Wars TM Galaxies experience. They may then move on to a fully directed story based quest that teaches them the basics of their chosen profession, while they uncover what is going on in Mos Eisley and earn their first badges!
    Character Transfer with Items

    • The character transfer service will now optionally include some items in the player inventory.

    Other Publish Notes:
    [DEVL]

    • Players may occasionally start seeing a “[DEVL]” text message in their chat window. If you see this message in the game during a time when you are having a problem and send in a /bug report, please include the complete name of the string you receive with [DEVL]. If possible, please let us know what you were doing at the time.

    Art

    • Fixed an issue with the Kashyyyk Bantha’s mouth.
    • Asteroid hit effects no longer extensively clip into other asteroids.

    Artificial Intelligence

    • As a player becomes higher in level than an NPC or creature, the aggro radius vs. the AI becomes smaller. A gray con will never aggro. The exception to this is Imperial and Rebel NPC enemies who will still have a full aggro radius.
    • Creatures and NPCs will stop combat with players when they enter any player owned structure. Prior to this, creatures and NPCs only stopped combat when entering a private player structure.
    • Fixed a case where players would stay in combat when traveling from a ground zone to any other zone.
    • Fixed an issue where attacking NPCs would aim and then lower their weapon between attacks

    Avatar

    • Updated the personal light functionality to automatically turn the personal light on at night and off during the day unless the player has toggled it – then it is left alone for the remainder of the session (press CTRL-L to turn your personal light on and off
    • Attempting to move forward by using a keyboard control or by using the mouse while also trying to move backwards using the keyboard at the same time will result in the avatar moving backwards.
    • If you are using the MMORPG(Modeless) keyboard controls, it is now possible to camera orbit around a character that’s mounted on a vehicle.

    Client Stability

    • Improved client stability

    Combat

    • You can now /con another player
    • Wounds to stats other than HEALTH will automatically be healed upon logging in.
    • Deathblow text will be sent to players around the combatants as well as the combatants.
    • Increased XP grants for killing aggressive, pack and killer NPCs. NPCs that are aggressive or assist each other will give a 5% bonus XP amount. NPCs that will perform a deathblow will also give a 5% bonus XP amount
    • Fixed Lair XP grants: Lairs should now give the correct XP again for destroying them
    • Attacking a lair will put you in combat for a short period of time
    • Commands that fail due to a bad state or posture will give feedback about why the command failed
    • Fixed an issue that caused mission generated NPC’s to spawn with higher than intended statistics
    • Fixed an issue that caused combat spam to not display correctly for auto-attacks
    • Fixed an issue with kill-credit assessment. Now if an NPC or creature does the majority of damage (over 65%) to a target then no one will get kill rights
    • Fixed an issue with combat states. If a creature or NPC is chasing you, you will now be in combat. Previously there were cases where you would not hear combat music, but a creature or NPC would be chasing you
    • A 5 second warm-up, 1 second execution time, and 5 sec cool-down has been added for the deathblow ability
    • Creature damage ranges are now larger but average damage done remains the same. This was done to help tankers take less damage on average than the other professions so they may better fulfill their role in combat
    • Buff bars will properly display buffs
    • Buffs should now be removed from players upon death
    • You should no longer be able to use a stimpack when you are at full health
    • Fixed an issue in the buff system that affects persisted buffs, potentially greatly increasing their time to be active
    • You should no longer attempt to attack yourself when auto-attack is on and you target yourself

    • Fixed an issue with duration of Berserk particle effect. Particle should now vanish when the Berserk buffs wears off

    Crafters

    • Ranger created camouflage kits are now usable by everyone. Any player may now self-apply a camouflage kit to gain a small conceal buff. This buff is less effective than if a Ranger had applied the camouflage, but it should aid crafters in avoiding the unwanted attention of critters near their installations. Also, camouflage kits are now usable from the button bar
    • Crafting weapons will now grant the appropriate General or Weapon Crafting XP
    • Recyclers will now be craftable again

    Creatures

    • Krayt Dragons have had their difficulty increased.

    Cybernetics

    • Added a radial menu option for Wookiees to be able to turn their chest plates into 3 pieces so they can wear Cybernetics with Wookiee chest plates. Old Wookiee chest plates must be converted before they can work with Cybernetics (Armorsmiths have new schematics for these pieces).

    Droids

    • “Program Droid” flight commands radial menu option no longer appears a droid control device if the player is not a pilot.

    Dungeons

    • The launch terminal on the Avatar Space Platform will now only have the options to launch or eject from the station. Double clicking on the terminal will default to the launch option.

    Galactic Civil War

    • Faction bases now can be placed in clusters of 3. There can be no more than 3 bases within 600 meters of one another.

    • Bio-Engineer Pet Re-sampling should now function properly. Crafted pets should be able to be re-sampled and reused to craft new DNA
    • Bio-Engineered creatures should now be usable and have reasonable balance for their level. Crafted pet levels should be appropriate for the stats the crafted creature receives
    • Bio-Engineered pets from before the Combat Upgrade should convert to a usable state when called. (Old armor values will be replaced by new ones, appropriate to the creature’s level)
    • Bio-Engineer Pet Stats fixed to have an effect on function
    • Each of the following DNA traits now affect new attributes:

      • Dependability: Adds a small chance for the creature to absorb half damage on a hit (critical save).
      • Courage: Aggro generation bonus added to normal attacks.
    • This doesn’t reduce the chance the state effect will be applied, but reduces the amount it impacts the pet’s ability to fight. Dizzy, for example, makes the pet less likely to hit and more likely to be hit. A dizzy pet with high state resist will fight better in that condition.

    Profession: Creature Handler

    • Using /tame will no longer set off your auto attack
    • Pets will no longer have Action or Mind wounds
    • When taming vicious creatures, if a creature handler is unable to call a high-level vicious creature, the player should receive a message with details why the pet cannot be called

    • Non-CH pet damage will now reduce XP amounts granted and possibly result in no kill rights. CH pet damage will still count towards CH XP

    Fan Fest Fixes!

    • Altered Lightsaber special abilities animations (Fan Fest)
    • Altered TKA special ability animations (Fan Fest)
    • Fixed bug where Guild Elections were constantly recycling (Fan Fest)
    • Ore mining units now come 5 to a crate, instead of 1 to a crate. (Fan Fest)

    Respec Token

    • What is the “Token Respec”? In order to offer players a final opportunity to adapt their character’s profession template, we are offering one final chance to revise your character’s template. We are calling this the “Token Respec” process. As part of this process we are putting an invisible marker on each character which allows the character skills to be reshuffled. After the character template is revised, meaning when you have confirmed your new template via the system, the token or marker is used and the option to revise/respec is no longer available.
    • Once the new Token Respec option to revise the character template is live in the game, you will be offered a text window upon log in that asks if you are ready for your last “Respec”.

There are several points to be aware of as part of this process:

    • All existing players (including players who have had character and account transfers) will receive a token allowing for one final respec of the character profession template.
    • You may choose to use your Token Respec upon receipt or to use it at a later date – this option remains available for you until you use it unless otherwise notified.
    • Although there is no limit on how quickly you use the Token Respec option, once you commit the template by confirming that it is final you will not have another respec opportunity.
    • If you are still able to revise your character’s template in-game as part of the original Combat Upgrade respec option, the Token Respec will not activate until you are out of the Combat Upgrade respec period.
    • Bonus points/unused skill points from the initial Combat Upgrade respec will not be transferred in any way to the new Token Respec opportunity.
    • There is a 12-hour respec timer buffering the use of the Combat Upgrade respec option and the use of the Token Respec option meaning that you cannot take advantage of the new Token Respec option until 12 hours after you use the Combat Upgrade version.
    • During the Combat Upgrade Respec process period, you will not be able to earn Master Badges.
    • After you complete the Combat Upgrade respec process and while you are eligible for the Token Respec you will be allowed to earn Master Badges.

    Crafting

    • You no longer have to click through the crafting experimentation result dialog. A system message is displayed instead.

    Creature Handler:

    • Pets in groups now get their own special “pet” role icon

    • Droids with either combat or armor modules will now increase the level in 5 unit increments up to a maximum of 30.
    • Crafting a droid with combat modules will increase min damage, max damage, to-hit, and give the droid the ability to attack your current target. Combat modules will also add a bit of armor.
    • Crafting a droid with armor modules will increase its general protection armor value at a greater rate than combat modules, and will also increase the droid’s defense value. Armor modules will not affect the droid’s to-Hit or min and max damage attributes.
    • Players with older droid deeds and pcd’s will be fixed retroactively.

    Dueling

    • If either player can currently attack the other, a /duel request will be ignored.

    Happy Empire Day!

To celebrate this glorious Imperial holiday, head to Nashal, Talus and speak to the Imperial P.R. Officer at 4311, 5187. To protest against Empire Day, head to the basement of the Anchorhead, Tatooine cantina at 128, -5350 and speak to the off-duty bartender. To find out more about Empire Day click here!

    Secrets of the Syren Quest

Part 3 of the Secrets of the Syren quest is now live. If you haven’t done the first two chapters, or are picking up where you left off, make sure to visit the quest NPC for your faction. Imperial players should find Jeevan Monsul in the Bestine cantina. Rebel players will need to see Veega Madish in the Tyrena cantina and neutral players will have the pleasure of dealing with Tyla Jinn in the Theed cantina. This part of the story will require you to venture in to space so make sure to have your fighter fueled up and ready.

    Smuggler – New Slicing Changes!

A “salvage” option now exists on weapon and armor upgrade kits. Using this option will replace the kit with a random component used in the new slicing system.

The “cut blue/red wire” element has been removed from weapon and armor slicing.

While slices to weapon and armor will always succeed, each slice will add a small amount of customization points to the sliced object. Any piece of weaponry or armor may have up to a total of 100 points worth of slices. The better a slice is, the more points it adds to the item until it reaches 100 points.

Each item (weapons/armor) will have a set of customization categories. Each category will require a number of slices of increasing value in order to get the full value of the category. These slices must be applied in order. For example, a weapon will have a category called “Increase Firing Rate” which has a maximum of 4 slices, each of increasing quality. Each of these slices then has a cost and results in an increase in firing rate.

Here is a list of the new slices:

    Weapons

    • Increase Firing Rate
    • Enhanced Damage
    • Increased Critical Hit Chance

    Armor

    • Enhanced Resilience
    • Impact Deflections
    • Hardening (Crit save chance)
    • Armor Break Defense

    Update Notes List Items

Correspondents and Fan Fest fixes and Balance Changes

    Animations

    UI

Removed the version number from the splash screen. If you would like to retrieve the version number, press CTRL+SHIFT+G in game. Galactic Civil War (GCW)

Reduce Temporary Enemy Flag (TEF) timer to 2.5 minutes. Combat between a bounty hunter and a Jedi for which the bounty hunter has a bounty mission will result in a “bounty hunter TEF”. No other TEF (such as factional TEF, for example) is applied. The “bounty hunter TEF” will prevent both the bounty hunter and Jedi from entering player structures, and will eject the player from a player structure if the TEF is received while the player is in the player structure. Guild war PVP no longer results in a TEF, unless the combatants are a bounty hunter and a Jedi for which the bounty hunter has a bounty mission, in which case it will result in a “bounty hunter TEF”. Opposing factional TEF and “bounty hunter TEF” are applied to both combatants as soon as any of the combatants attacks.

    AI

Fixed an error case where AI would emit a “?” over its head when a non-threat approached. Pets: If a pet attacks a mob, the mob will now also be aggressive to the pet’s master. So if you send a pet on a mob, and the pet dies, the mob will attack you. If you send your pet to attack a lair, mobs from the lair will additionally attack you. Pets: Pets now inherit the same aggro radius reduction as their master. Previously a lvl 80 player with a lvl 40 pet could possibly have an AI aggro the pet, but not the player. Now the pet has the same aggro radius as the player. Pets: A pet can no longer pull a mob without getting within the aggro radius of or attacking a mob. Previously just telling a pet to attack a mob initiated the pet and the mob in combat instantly. Pets: A pet no longer stops attacking a lair (or any immobile AI) after a short period of time. They will continue to attack as ordered. Pets: Pets no longer lose their ranged weapons on occasion when incapacitated.

    New Player Tutorial

Moved the tutorial toggle to a more obvious place in the character creation screens.

    Misc

Player event actors will not speak their programmed text. This interim fix is due to abuse of the system and the event actor will be removed entirely in an upcoming change for this publish cycle. Players will no longer have to kill NPC’s twice when they die with a Flamethrower DoT on them Resource containers for sale on vendors or on commodities terminals will retain the name of the resource and the quantity from their description. Lairs HAM bars will now show properly
